If you saw our last blog you’ll know that we were very excited about being asked to install a fence on Love Your Garden recently.
Why did Love Your Garden choose FenceFins?
Because FenceFins look nicer in the garden than other fence anchors. In addition to being easier to use, of course.
As its fans know, the show features a complete garden rebuild. There is always a powerful story behind the garden chosen too. That was the case with the Jordan family in Southampton. They lost wife and mother Shelly-Ann less than a year ago. One of her dreams had been to create a wonderful garden for her family. The Love Your Garden team were happy to be able to make that particular dream come true for them. They devised a stunning garden transformation. In addition to wonderful plants they installed an amazing studio playroom and an elevated outdoor kitchen area for entertaining.
However as well as creating fantastic new gardens for deserving people the show also looks for interesting new products and ideas to feature. Some of these are large, expensive items – outdoor rooms, garden structures and sculptures etc. There are also plenty of smaller, affordable ideas – not just plants but great ideas for recycling and reusing ordinary items. The outside kitchen in this garden had a wall made from recycled pallets!
The team, led by Alan Titchmarsh, want to inspire their viewers, as well as transform the chosen garden.
Even the fence on Love Your Garden needs to look perfect
This garden was to have a fairly standard wooden fence. But the Love Your Garden team chose to paint the fence a bold, blue colour. This added to the really dramatic, modern feel of the whole garden.
So the colour of the fence made it a key feature of the garden design and its look became really important. The designers didn’t want any unsightly fence fixings to spoil it, even at ground level. FenceFins were an obvious choice.
FenceFins sit underground. So they are completely invisible, and don’t ruin the look of your fence. This makes them ideal when you want your fence to make the statement, not the fixings!
Metal spikes, which you have to drive into the ground, have a metal box fitting that sticks up several inches above ground. These don’t look that great and some rust over time too, which makes them look even worse.
FenceFins make the garden look better too
Of course, Love Your Garden also wanted to plant some spectacular plants around the garden. The stunning fence colour was a great backdrop to display these against, for maximum visual impact.
The innovative outside kitchen and studio took up a lot of space, with a new lawn and big concrete steps and paths linking the whole garden together. So it was important to get as many shrubs and flowers as possible into the area remaining.
Because FenceFins don’t need any concrete, you can turf or plant closer to the fence, even near the posts. This allowed Love Your Garden to use every last inch of space for their lovely plants and set them against the stunning blue fence.
With the fence being a replacement it was good to be able to install the new posts without too much disturbance to established plants and trees that belonged to the next door garden. FenceFins are low profile, and you don’t need to dig a big hole. That meant we could easily install the fence close to neighbours’ structures and trees on the boundary.
Easy to use and a beautiful fence on Love Your Garden
So while FenceFins are famous for being easy to install, they also give you a more beautiful fence and garden.
